USG Plant a proud part of the community

Staff Writer

The USG gypsum quarry opened in Sweetwater in 1923, and almost 95 years later, is a proud and active part of Nolan County. The plant employs more than 200 people, produces well-known building products like Sheetrock® brand drywall and participates in community events from Feed Our Kids to football games.
“Sweetwater has been a great home to USG for many years, and it’s important for us to give back,” says USG plant manager Jeff Grimland. “We’re an industry-leading manufacturer of building products and innovative systems, and we also work hard to be good citizens.” To read more, please see our print or online edition.
