Texas Sales Tax Holiday Coming This Weekend August 10-12

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Ok, well maybe the second most wonderful time of the year. Not only are the kids going back to school but that other holiday is upon us: The Texas Sales Tax Holiday.
With the sales tax in Sweetwater at 8.250 percent, it’s even more of a bargain to shop Sweetwater. Cities such as Long Beach, California and Chicago Illinois share a 10.25 sales tax, if one can imagine.
With this in mind, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is reminding shoppers they can save money on back to school items such as clothing, backpacks and school supplies and certain other items during the state’s sales tax holiday.
This year, the sales tax holiday is scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10-12. Consumers can save on various clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced below $100 from sales tax, saving shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend during the weekend.
