Sweetwater Middle School Seeking Mentors for New Program

Staff Writer

Sweetwater Middle School will be launching a new mentorship program from the 2019-2020 school year called “Thermostat”. The goal for the program is for the school to partner with community members to help develop the young men and women into room changers. “Thermometers copy their environment. Thermostats change their environment. We want our students to become people that change the climate of classrooms, schools, and communities in a positive way.”
SMS is looking for upstanding men and women in the community that are interested in swapping the future of Sweetwater. Volunteers do not have to be a parent of a middle school student, or a parent at all, to participate. “We are hoping that this program will connect our students with people from all corners of our small town. If you are fully committed to making Sweetwater a great place to live and work, you are the type of person we are looking for!”
Men will be paired with a male middle school mentee, and women with female middle school mentee.
