Sweetwater girls golfers 4th, 6th as district ends

Sweetwater finished in fourth and sixth place, respectively, after the last leg of the District 5-4A girls golf tournament was completed Wednesday at the Western Texas College course in Snyder.
Also, no individual player advanced to regionals for the Lady Mustangs, who shot 413 for a 1,236 total with their No. 1 team.
Snyder No. 1 (1,054) and Snyder No. 2 (1,160) took the two regional berths and Big Spring (1,211) finished in third place.
Sweetwater No. 1 included Miranda Sloan, 94-290; Katelyn Guzman, 102-301; Samantha Torres, 107-321; Alexis Heiskell, 111-325; and Avery Allen, 110-334.
Sloan, though not advancing to regionals, had the third-best individual score for a player not on one of the top two teams and she placed 10th among medalists to receive all-district recognition.
Sweetwater No. 2 shot a 481-1,354 for sixth place.
Sweetwater No. 2 included Rachael Sparks, 110-316; Victoria Reyna, 113-333; Claire Paty, 119-350; and Madison Sosa, 139-388. Jade Pinkerton (129) and Amia Perez (152) played as individual medalists.
The top two individual players not on one of the top two teams also advance to the regional tournament which will be April 22-23 in Lubbock.
