SW hits links, places 4th at Snyder

The Sweetwater boys golf team went to Snyder for its season-opening tournament and placed fourth this past Friday and Saturday.
After an opening 352 in the first round at the Scurry County Golf Course, Sweetwater shot 404 in the final round for a 756 total.
Markus Meneses led the Mustangs’ effort as he shot 88-88-176. The other three players who competed on both days were Noah Martinez. who shot 92-105-197; Talon Raley, who shot 93-105-198; and Harlie Sanders, who shot 104-106-210. Carson Andrews competed Friday and shot 79.
Sweetwater’s No. 2 team shot 423-447 its its two rounds to finish in seventh place with an 870 total.
The team was paced by Stephen Turney, who had rounds of 96 and 93 for a 189 total.
Also on the No. 2 team were Kendal Adames, who shot 112-108-220; Mason Wyrosdick, 99-132-231; Collin Stafford, who shot 130-114-244; and Jeremiah Barrera, who shot 116 the first day.
Snyder shot 320-321-641 to beat out Brownwood (333-323-656) and Wylie (337-330-667) for the title. Snyder was led by low medalist Jake Leatherwood, who shot 66 and 76 for a 142 total.
The Sweetwater girls and boys will play at Big Spring this Friday and Saturday.
