SW girls at B’wood for final tuneup

Sweetwater High School’s girls golf team placed fifth when it played on Monday at the Brownwood Invitational tournament and shot 385.
Journee Pugh shot a 91 to lead Sweetwater’s effort and placed ninth among all golfers. Also on the No. 1 team were Jaelynn Page (97), Miranda Sloan (97), Julia Rees (100) and Avery Allen (106). The event was a tuneup for Monday’s first leg of the District 5-4A tournament at Big Spring Country Club.
Wylie won the event at Brownwood with a 340 total while Blanket (368) placed second and Gatesville (375) was third. The next closest district schools were Snyder, fourth at 382, and Sweetwater.
Big Spring was sixth with a 391 total and was followed by Brownwood (422), Wylie No. 2 (422), Snyder No. 2 (438) and Brownwood No. 2 (473).
Wylie’s Maddi Olson fired a 71 to earn medalist honors.
Sweetwater will host the final leg of the 54-hole district tournament on April 9 at Sweetwater Country Club.
