Storms brewing in area tonight

Staff Writer

Storms moving into East Texas today could deliver a deluge of rain for the area and might spawn some severe weather, according to the National Weather Service.
The chance for rain will jump from 20 percent predicted for Friday night to 50 percent Saturday afternoon, and up to 70 percent Saturday evening, said National Weather Service Hydometeorogical Technician Lisa May Thursday.
May said forecasters are most concerned about the amount of rain that could fall in the area. “We can’t rule out some strong, damaging winds or hail,” she said. “But heavy rainfall is the biggest issue.”
