Tim Scherwin has been named head softball coach at Sweetwater High School following the resignation of Alexandra Fuentez, who accepted a girls coaching job at Crane High School several weeks ago after compiling a 16-10 record in one season at Sweetwater.
Scherwin has been the head softball coach for the past three years at Sanford-Fritch High School, where his teams set school records for wins all three years by going 13-15, 15-11 and 18-9 for an overall 46-35 mark and also reaching the playoffs all three years.
Scherwin also held coaching jobs at Class 2A (now 3A) Schulenburg and Class 2A Yorktown in his 11-year career. Though a Minnesota native, he graduated from Cedar Park High School near Austin and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor located in Belton.
“My basic philosophy is fundamentals, execution, effort and toughness,” said Scherwin, who will also assist with volleyball and teach high school English.
“I want to put a product on the field that the kids and the community can be proud of.”
