Sarah Johnson will be the new head girls basketball coach at Sweetwater High School. Johnson replaces Devin Griffin, who resigned in early July in order to take the head girls basketball coaching job at Lubbock Estacado.
Johnson will also be replacing Griffin as the new head cross country coach at SHS. The cross country season starts later this month.
This will be the first head coaching jobs for Johnson, who coached JV girls basketball and track last year at Muleshoe, where she earned her high school degree in 2010. Johnson got her college degree at Panhandle State University in Oklahoma and earned all-conference basketball honors, and played in a FIBA league before getting into coaching. She will stress “hard work and discipline” from players with a fast-paced offensive approach.
