SHS has several AQs at Big Spring

BIG SPRING — Sweetwater High School qualified several of its district track athletes for the area meet set for Wednesday, April 17. The area track meet will be held in Graham.
Sweetwater girls earning area berths at the district meet were Sheyla Barrera, who was second in the discus (105-7) and third in the shot put (33-11 1/2); Bri Moriel, fourth in both the 100 dash (13.21) and 200 dash (27.86); Addison Page, fourth in the 400 (1:04.82); and Alex Bell, first in the shot put (35-8 1/2). Also, Sweetwater’s three relays all made it out of district as the 800 relay of Nevaeh Sarabia, Kaylee Aguilar, Page and Moriel was second (1:49.67), the 1600 relay of Keyana Tillis, Victoria Gutierrez, Eionna Jennings and Aguilar was third (4:31.45); and the 400 relay of Jennings, Cyera Pieper, Kyla Daniel and Tillis was fourth (53.78).
The district track meet was held at Big Spring.
Boys advancing to area competition next week are Danner Foust, who placed second in the discus (118-0); Justin Castereno, who was third in the discus (115-8); Eli Hendrix, fourth in the 110 hurdles (17.03) and second in the 300 hurdles (44.07); Josh Camacho, third in the 400 (54.53); Max Rodriguez, first in the shot put (46-5 1/2); and Tony Padilla, fourth in the shot put (41-1 1/2).
The 400 relay of Camacho, Kei’Arriyen Griffin, Ernesto Chavez and Aaron Aguilar was fourth (46.24) and the 1600 relay of Darian Carr, Chavez, Hendrix and Eric Thomas Martinez was also fourth (3:52.20) to earn area berths.
Martinez was fifth in he 3200 run (11:11.98) and sixth in the 1600 (4:58.18) and Shavie Green was fifth in the girls shot (30-4 1/4).
