SHS boys lifters 2nd at 1st meet in Snyder

Sweetwater High School’s boys placed second overall to Midland Lee at last Thursday’s opening powerlifting meet held at Snyder with 33 points.
Eight Mustangs recorded at least a top-three finish in their weight class as SHS edged out both Snyder and Odessa High, who each collected 31 points, for second place while Midland Lee had 35 points.
Justin Castereno won his weight class with a total lift of 1,395 pounds in the 242-pound class. Two Mustangs, Trey Jimenez (630) in the 123-pound class and Kendal Adames (925) in the 148-pound class, placed second. Third-place finishers were Blake Scott (780) in the 132-pound class, Josh Camacho (1,045) in the 165-pound class, Tony Padilla (1,120) in the 181-pound class, Ely Barrera (1,090) in the 242-pound class and Angel Longoria (1,020) in the superheavyweight class.
In addition, Jeremy Le (1,020) picked up a point for Sweetwater at the meet by placing fifth in the 220-pound class. The results for the Sweetwater girls were unavailable at press time but will run when they are.
