On Wednesday evening, Sweetwater Police conducted a routine traffic stop on a pick-up truck driven by a male subject towing a utility trailer full of a variety of buckets and miscellaneous items. The stop along the 1100 block of Fowler had been apparently for a defective light. In what had been an ordinary traffic stop, a K9 in one of the accompanying police vehicles alerted and made it anything but routine. The K9 picked up the scent of narcotics. The truck was searched and came up empty. The K9 never took his eyes off the driver. The police searched the driver, an unidentified male from Roby. On the man was found 1.3 grams of methamphetamine. The subject was arrested at the scene and booked at Nolan County Jail.
