Report of Theft Ends in Pursuit; Arrest

On Sunday, March 29, 2020, the Nolan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft that occurred in the 1400 block of Farm to Market Road 1230. An Investigator and a Patrol Deputy with NCSO responded to the area and initiated an investigation which led to the discovery of stolen equipment that had been taken during a previous theft. The stolen property was located in an area where Samuel Trey Cornutt is known to reside on the west side of Nolan County.
While conducting the investigation, a blue pickup, driven by Mr. Samuel Cornutt was seen entering the property, and then suddenly backed away and fled the scene at a high rate of speed. After a brief vehicle pursuit; Cornutt was stopped and a roadside investigation was conducted that led to the discovery of marijuana. The investigation also led to the discovery of stolen equipment in Cornutt’s vehicle.
