One killed in Runnels County crash

One person was killed in a one vehicle crash around 2:05 a.m. on Sunday morning in Runnels County.
A 2006 Ford F350 — driven by Cameron Doyle Cooper, 18, of Winters — was traveling northbound on US 83 in Winters when it drifted off the roadway to the east. The driver overcorrected to the left, causing the vehicle to enter a side skid and continue into the west side barrow ditch. The vehicle struck a cement post and a tree.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to North Runnels Hospital in Winters in stable condition with non-incapacitating injuries. he was wearing his seat belt at the time of the wreck. The passenger in the vehicle, James Scott Lange, 17, of Winters, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Winters Funeral Home. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the wreck.
The weather was clear and cloudy with dry road conditions. The crash is under investigation by Trooper Bryan Keith, DPS Sweetwater.
