Netters lose to Snyder in next-to-last fall match

Sweetwater High School’s tennis team lost to Snyder by a 12-7 count in its next-to-last fall match Thursday.
Calen Hughes and Austin Ramirez won in boys singles as did Stephanie Gallardo, Jillian Virgen and Victoria Pena in girls singles. Also for Sweetwater, the girls doubles team of Pena and Madyson Gilmore and the mixed doubles team of Hughes and Allison Marlett won. Sweetwater will play its final regular season fall match at Midland Greenwood on Thursday and the JV team wraps up its fall season by hosting Greenwood today.
Boys singles — Isaiah Pena lost 5-7, 5-7; Max Berry lost 2-6, 2-6; Calen Hughes won 6-2, 7-5; Aus-tin Ramirez won 6-2, 7-6 (7-2); Noah Gonzales lost 2-6, 2-6; Nathan Humphries lost 6-2, 3-6 (2-10).
Girls singles — Lily Smola lost 4-6, 2-6; Stephanie Gallardo won 4-6, 6-2 (10-3); Riley Dodd lost 6-1, 4-6 (4-10); Jillian Virgen won 3-6, 6-2 (11-9); Victoria Pena won 6-4, 6-1; Allison Marlett lost 5-7, 4-6.
Boys doubles — Isaiah Pena and Brody Frieda lost 4-6, 2-6; Max Berry and Noah Gonzales lost 5-7, 2-6; Nathan Humphries and Austin Ramirez lost 6-2, 2-6 (9-11).
Girls doubles — Lily Smola and Jillian Virgen lost 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-10 (tiebreaker); Stephanie Gallardo and Riley Dodd lost 6-1, 5-7 (9-11); Victoria Pena and Madyson Gilmore won 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (5-7), 10-3 (tiebreaker).
Mixed doubles — Calen Hughes and Allison Marlett won 3-6, 6-4 (10-8).
