National Night Out a community success

The Sweetwater Police Department hosted the National Night Out for 2017 last night.
With temperatures in the high 60’s and heading towards Fall, the event was a success due in large part to the crowds that turned up during the pleasant October evening. Area businesses participated in the event, hosting booth spaces in order to reach out and to meet members of the community and share information about their business or group.
Everything at NNO was free of charge. There were free games of chance where participants could win prizes. Free popcorn, pizza and bags of candy were handed out to all, along with helpful informational items such as brochures from area businesses, mosquito spray and information about the prevention of the Zika virus. Train rides were given to children and varsity cheerleaders cheerfully handed out temporary tattoos. There was a free photo booth at Fire Department stand, as well.
The NNO is an event hosted by the SPD and participated in by area public service agencies and the communities they serve. This amazing event gives first responders and members of the community a chance to come together and socialize in a relaxed environment.
It was such a success, many area residents said they couldn’t wait until next year for the National Night Out 2018.
