SNYDER — The early results were less than encouraging when Sweetwater tipped off District 5-4A volleyball play on Saturday at Snyder. But by the end, there were plenty of smiles by the visitors as they came away with a three-game sweep. The Lady Mustangs won the match in the minimum three games by prevailing 25-13, 25-22, 29-27.
The day began with the freshman and JV teams losing in straight sets. But Sweetwater was in control of the varsity match from start to finish. “It feels great to start district off with a win,” coach Morgan Doyle said afterward.
“Our sub-varsity teams came out a little slow today, so I was worried about the varsity team,” Doyle said. “They quickly changed that feeling once the game began. The girls were pumped and ready for anything Snyder tried to throw at them.”
