Lady Mustang golfers still 4th at 5-4A tourney after 2nd round

Entering the final leg of the 5-4A tournament the Sweetwater girls are still in fourth place. On Thursday, the No. 1 team shot 419 at Bentwood Country Club in San Angelo for an 823 total.
Leading the event are Snyder’s two teams at 706 and 779, while Big Spring is third with an 801 total. Lake View is fifth (842) followed by Sweetwater No. 2 (873), which shot a second round 441. Snyder hosts the final district round Wednesday.
In addition to the top two teams, the top two players not on one of those teams will make the regional golf tournament. Sweetwater’s Miranda Sloan has the best shot at going to Lubbock after shooting 94 Thursday for a 196. The score puts her in ninth place. Sweetwater’s Katelyn Guzman (101-199) is currently tied for 12th. Sweetwater’s other players on its No. 1 team are Alexis Heiskell, who shot 112-214; Samantha Torres, who also shot 112 for a 214 total; and Avery Allen, who shot 120 for a 224 total.
Sweetwater No. 2 is led by Rachael Sparks (95-206). Victoria Reyna (109-220), Claire Paty (118-231) and Madison Sosa (119-249) are also on the team. Amia Perez (144) played on Thursday as well.
The two Sweetwater boys teams go to Midland to end their district golf tourney on Monday in third and fifth place, respectively, with 18 holes remaining.
