Highland boys play for No. 3 in 12-1A

The Highland boys basketball team goes to Westbrook at 6:30 p.m. today to decide the No. 3 playoff berth in District 12-1A.
Highland (4-5) kept its hopes alive Friday with a 46-26 win over Hermleigh as Westbrook (5-4), with a chance to clinch a playoff berth, lost to Ira 54-47. If Highland wins today, it will own the tiebreaker by virtue of the Hornets’ 48-38 win the first time the teams played Jan. 26. Eli Sauer (17 points) and Sam Spaulding (11) were Highland’s top scorers against Hermleigh.
Blackwell lost to Sterling City 38-26 on Friday, ending the Hornets’ year in 14-1A.
In 8-2A, Roscoe (1-10) lost to Hawley 56-53. Caleb Gray had 11 points for Roscoe while Brandon Lavalais had eight, Nick Limones and Jose Ortega seven, Hunter Anglin six, Jayden Gonzales five, Micheal Wright four, Clemente Aguayo three and Brayan Medina two. The Plowboys host Anson on Tuesday to end their season.
