Fireworks approved for 4th, new voting machines considered

The Commissioner’s Court of Nolan County met in regular session on Monday, June 12 at 9 a.m. at the Sweetwater Courthouse.
The Court considered and approved the meeting minutes from the meeting of May 22. The Court also approved for the Chamber of Commerce to set-off fireworks by the Nolan County Coliseum on July 4th.
A presentation was given by a representative from ESS Election Equipment. The equipment the would replace the current voting machine, model M-100 with a newer model, DS200. The DS 200 precinct vote scanner and vote tabulator combines the best attributes of a paper-based ballot system with the flexibility and efficiency of the latest digital-image technology, It takes traditional optical-scan ballot vote tabulation to a more modern level.
