Fatal Crash in Scurry County

An elderly person was killed in two vehicle crash in Scurry County on CR 253, 0.8 miles west of Snyder on Wednesday. The crash occurred at 10:36 a.m. on a dry road. Weather conditions were dry but cloudy.
Earline Nealie Stroud, 83, of Snyder was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was taken to McCoy Funeral Home in Snyder. She had been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Stroud was driving a 2018 Toyota RAV 4 north on CR 253 in the southbound lane as a 1971 Franklin Drilling Rig, driven by Isael Tavarez-Hernandez, 61, of Ira was approaching south. The two vehicles crashed as the drivers were unable to avoid a collision.
Tavarez-Hernandez was not injured and had not been wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The crash is currently under investigation.
