Roscoe Collegiate ISD Parents and Stakeholders:
Our first day of distance instruction will begin this Monday, March 23. Our teachers will be communicating with you and your students in various ways. If your student does not have work to do on Monday, please email your student’s teacher and let him/her know. Consistent communication with your students’ teachers is a critical piece of online instruction and instruction at a distance.
I visited with my own students about their work today. It became obvious to me that I will need to take some time this weekend to let them show me how they connect online to receive and do their work. I want them to show me so that I will know that they can do it. If they can’t do it, I will help them or I will email their teachers and ask for help. We are also going to set up a place for each of them to keep their supplies and to work on school assignments. I encourage you to do the same this weekend. Show them how important their education is by spending some time planning and envisioning how they will work each day. You will be setting the stage for success!
Student work is extremely important. It is through work that students learn and demonstrate their understanding of the material being taught. Student work is also the way that we will be taking attendance. You can expect an email, text message, or phone call from your student’s teacher when work is not being completed consistently. Roscoe Collegiate ISD staff will continue to work each day whether from home or from the school. Your phone calls, emails, and text messages to teachers should be returned in a prompt manner on a daily basis. If you do not experience this response from our staff, please reach out to our campus principals.
The cafeteria will be open from 9:00 to 12:00 each day for those us you who would like to pick up breakfast and lunch. You can pick up both breakfast and lunch at the same time. We are also using the cafeteria as a pick-up and drop-off location for student work that involves paper assignments. Students who do not yet have internet access will need to use this pick-up and drop-off location to receive and turn-in work. We will have breakfast and lunch available Monday. No gathering will be permitted. We believe that people will come and go throughout the 9:00-12:00 window thus eliminating groups of more than 10 people.
