Allens given top district, all-state basketball honors

Highland junior Sierra Allen is the Texas Six-Man Coaches Association girls basketball co-player of the year. She shares the honor with Strawn’s Jayde Price.Sierra’s younger sister, freshman Hannah Allen, earned second team all-state honors.Sierra and Hannah Allen also captured top honors in District 13-A, Division II. Sierra was selected as the district MVP and Hannah was named as the district’s top newcomer. Faith Boren of Roscoe was named the district’s offensive player of the year, giving Nolan County three of the top four honors. Also on the all-district team were Beth Rich-burg and Lora Stewart of Highland and Eva Aguayo, Carolina Perez and Mirian Solis of Roscoe. Highland’s Sydny Helbert and Madison Moseley and Roscoe’s Torrey Willman, Stina Tomlin and Shelby Brown received all-district honorable mention.Highland and Roscoe also had representatives on the District 13-A, Division II all-district boys team.On the all-district team were Roscoe’s Jesus Leanos and Highland’s Ron Coving-ton and Ethan Wilson.Those receiving all-district honorable mention were Kevin Box, Michael Hyde, Jacob Richburg and Brandon Stevens of Highland and Cutter Davila of Roscoe. Named to the academic all-district girls team were Faith Boren, Kendall Moses, Carolina Perez, Whitney Williams, Mirian Solis, Stina Tomlin, Torrey Willman, Eva Aguayo and Shelby Brown of Roscoe, and Sierra Allen, Hannah Allen, Lora Stewart, Sydny Helbert, Morgan Monroe and Kaylee Martin from Highland.Named to the academic all-district boys team was Roscoe’s Brant Burnett.The complete girls all-state basketball team is on the TSMCA website.
