The Sweetwater Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 500 block of Hill Street on Wednesday evening around 8:20 p.m. The home was not occupied at the time and is a total loss. Shown, Nick Barton puts out a hot spot at the house fire.

Sweetwater Fastpitch Softball Association held its opening ceremonies on Saturday at the Jerry Collins Complex. The league includes teams in the 6-under, 8-under, 10-under, 12-under and 14-under age divisions. All of the players and their coaches were introduced to the crowd, and several games were played following the ceremonies.
