A total of seven Sweet-water football players have received Class 3A all-Big Country recognition from the Abilene Reporter-News.
Four of Sweetwater’s players made the second team while five players — two of whom also made the second team at a different position — were given all-Big Country honorable mention.
On the 3A second team are senior linebacker Ryan Linebaugh, senior defensive lineman Tadeo Canon-Masjoan, junior defensive back Kaleb Hoover and sophomore receiver Bray Amos. Meanwhile, Linebaugh at running back, Hoover and senior Willie Norman at receiver, sophomore quarterback Kaegan Jeffrey and sophomore defensive back Isaiah McGee earned Class 3A all-Big Country honorable mention. The team was actually composed of players in Class 3A through 5A.
On defense, Linebaugh had a team-high 135 tack-les, 31 of them solos, plus two interceptions, one pass break up, three hurries, three fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, four tackles for a loss and one sack. He also had 425 yards and nine TDs rushing.
Canon-Masjoan had 118 tackles with 42 solos, plus 12 hurries, three fumble recoveries, 16 tackles for a loss, nine sacks and a blocked kick and was also a reliable placekicker and occasional fourth-down running back.
Hoover and McGee had 62 and 56 tackles, respectively, while on offense Hoover caught 38 passes for 562 yards and seven TDs.
Amos caught a team-high 50 passes for 652 yards and seven TDs while Norman had 33 catches for 642 yards and three TDs.
Jeffrey completed 141 of 245 passes for 2,089 yards and 19 TDs and also rushed 100 times for 266 yards.
