The Highland and Roscoe girls were the only win-ners among the six Nolan County high school basket-ball teams on Tuesday.
The Lady Hornets are now 13-3 after defeating Guthrie 50-30, while Roscoe (9-5) beat TLCA 55-21.
Sierra Allen led Highland with 17 points while Han-nah Allen also reached double figures with 13 points. Sydny Helbert and Schyler Kimbrell each contributed six points while Madison Moseley and Beth Richburg had four.
Roscoe held a 20-0 lead over San Angelo-based TLCA after the first quarter of play, and continued its dominance over the last three periods as well.
Faith Boren led Roscoe with 22 points. Also scoring were Mirian Solis with nine, Eva Aguayo and Kendall Moses with six, Carolina Perez and Whitney Williams with four and Shelby Brown and Stina Tomlin with two.
Blackwell’s Stephanie Metcalf nearly matched Boren as she had 20 points in a losing effort Tuesday.
Metcalf was one of only four Blackwell players who scored as the Lady Hornets (1-9) lost 44-31 to Veribest in their district opener. Eli-zabeth Rozzlle scored five points and Leonor Castelo and Brooklyn Harris three for the Lady Hornets.
Meanwhile, Blackwell’s boys (2-8) lost to Corner-stone Christian 57-45.
Ethan Andrews led Black-well with 13 points while Jayden Jones was right be-hind him with 12 points. Franck Cano (eight), Wade Allen (six) and Mason Magness (six) also scored for Blackwell in the non-district game.
Roscoe’s boys lost 54-24 in their game against TLCA, a three-year-old charter school whose initials stand for Texas Leadership Charter Academy. Dillon Freeman led Roscoe (3-6) with eight points while Cut-ter Davila had seven points, Javier Leanos four, Jesus Leanos three and Luke Rovig two.
Highland’s boys (4-8) lost to Guthrie in their game on Tuesday by a score of 50-25 despite getting a team-high 14 points from Ron Coving-ton. Jacob Richburg (four), Laramie Thompson (three), Kevin Box (two) and Shel-don Hall (two) also scored.
