As the pungent smell of a rodeo always is, so is the WTRA. The West Texas Rodeo Association always puts on a consistent rodeo.
Move-ins began Friday afternoon after workers prepared the arena, coliseum, stalls and the barn for rodeo-goers and cowboys alike. The WTRA worked to create a consistent and great experience for competitors, workers in the rodeo and the people watching from the sidelines.
The events began Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. and continued throughout the hot July day. Events taking place during that day would be barrel racing, speed goat roping, and poles in the newly renovated covered arena. In the coliseum building, events like double mugging, calf touch, breakaway, ribbon roping, steer breakaway and team roping. The events repeated on Sunday with the exception of speed events moving to the coliseum building and roping moving to the covered arena for the day.
