The World of Work (WOW) Youth Expo Showcases Regional Opportunities for Students

Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas is excited to host the World of Work (WOW) Youth Expo at the Abilene Convention Center on Wednesday, November 15th, from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Over 3,000 8th-12th grade students from more than 50 schools are registered to attend. Parents are welcome at the event any time after 10:00am; there is no cost to participate.
The goal of the WOW Youth Expo is to make students aware of career, college, and training opportunities around the region in high-wage, high-demand fields. Some of the industries represented will include: health science, technology, public safety, business, manufacturing, and human services. Local organizations focused on helping youth, the military, as well as colleges and technical schools will also be in attendance. This is not a hiring event; this is an opportunity for students to learn about the skills, training and certifications they will need in order to be hired by local businesses when they enter the workforce...To read more, please refer to our print or online edition.
