A memorial rodeo and dance will take place this weekend at the Nolan County Coliseum to honor two area men who died in a tragic accident. Nicholas Haden Lee Walker and Jeremy Paul Claxton died this past April after falling into a water well in neighboring Fisher County and being overcome with carbon monoxide.
This rodeo, featuring barrel racing and bullriding, will be honoring and benefiting the families of "two of the most amazing men to ever grace west Texas," according to organizers. "Nicholas Haden Lee Walker and Jeremy Paul Claxton we're known by many and loved by all."
All proceeds will be benefiting the families of these young men. For more information on the events, or how to register for them, contact Shirley McBee at 432-296-9185. There will be concessions, silent auction, and shirts being sold during the event. There will be payouts in all events, excluding exhibition.
Shirt prices are youth medium through adult extra large $10 and adult 2X to adult 4X $12.
If you would like to volunteer to help with any event, concessions, t-shirt sales, etc., contact Shirley McBee or arrive at the coliseum by 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
If you would like to donate items to the silent auction, or donate baked goods, have them dropped off at the annex by no later than 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21.
