Two SMS boys teams claim titles at weekend hoops event

Sweetwater Middle School boys hoops results
A pair of Sweetwater Middle School boys basketball teams won first-place honors when SMS hosted a two-day tournament this past Friday and Saturday.
Sweetwater No. 2 won the seventh grade division after beating Merkel 28-4, Snyder 31-20 and Sweetwater No. 1 24-16. The No. 1 team beat Snyder 22-20 and Merkel 14-5 and placed second.
Sweetwater No. 1 won the eighth grade division after beating Snyder 21-12 and Merkel 37-20 and tying Sweetwater No. 2 17-17. Sweetwater No. 2 also lost to Merkel 32-14 and fell to Snyder 19-18.
