Two major wrecks Monday, one fatal

Shown is the scene of the wreck on State Highway 70 in Sweetwater in which the driver of the 18-wheeler died.

One person was killed in a one vehicle crash at 10:30 a.m. on Monday in Nolan County.  The crash occurred on State Highway 70, 1.7 miles south of Mile Post 324, east of Sweetwater.
Michael Christopher Zambrano, 28, of Petersburg, Texas was driving a 2001 Freightliner Truck (eighteen wheeler) east bound on IH-20. Zambrano exited off of IH-20 and was attempting to travel north onto State Highway 70. The vehicle left the roadway and overturned. Judge Tim Fambrough pronounced Michael Christopher Zambrano dead at 10:30 a.m. The body was taken to McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater. This crash is being investigated by John Nichols. The weather was clear and the road was dry.
Another wreck occurred on Interstate 20 near Sweetwater Steel, when two trucks had a head-on collision. One person was transported in stable condition and the other person was released at the scene.
