Brought to you by the creators of Fireproof and Facing the Giants, Courageous is a story of everyday heroes who make a difference on the street, but who struggle to serve and protect their loved ones at home.
Four men, one calling: To serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, they are confident and focused. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood.
When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith and their fathering. Can a newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God ... and to their children? Will they look to God to rediscover their purpose and find the strength to lead once again? Or will life's hardships tempt them to choose the easy way out?
Protecting the streets is second nature to these men. Raising their children in a God-honoring way? That's courageous.
HE’S NOT HERE
Nearly 25 million American children (over 36%) live without their biological fathers. Only 60% of these children have seen their fathers in the past year.
AND IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Over the last three decades, the research has proven that children living without their biological fathers are more likely to be poor and to have educational, health, emotional and psychological problems, to suffer child abuse and to engage in criminal behavior, than peers living with their married, biological fathers.
FATHERLESS HOMES PRODUCE
63% of youth suicides (Bureau of Census), 90% of all homeless and runaway children (CDC), 85% of all children with behavioral disorders (CDC), 85% of all youths in prisons (Fulton Co. Georgia jail populations, TX Dept. Of Corrections 1992)
(All Pro Dads, copyright 2010 Family First).
It’s not just the 25 million children who will go to bed this evening without their Daddy at home, it’s also the untold millions of households with a Man who is physically present, but emotionally and spiritually absent. Fathers of all ages, fathers to be and grandfathers — come to be encouraged and inspired!
Though the movie Courageous has special emphasis on fathers, it will empower mothers and grandparents as well. It shows why men and women, must courageously fight to raise children in a God-honoring way when it is so easy to naturally gravitate towards other things that may come much easier. Don’t miss this movie that will have you laughing, crying and cheering as you are challenged and inspired by these everyday heroes who desire to make a lifelong impact on their children.
Please join us for this special event for fathers, mothers and grandparents.
