The Sweetwater and Pecos baseball teams have agreed to meet this weekend in a best-of-3 bi-district playoff series after completing their regular seasons on Friday. The playoff will be in Denver City.
Game 1 is at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 2. Game 2 begins the following day at 11 a.m. with a third game, if necessary, scheduled to begin about 30 minutes after the end of Game 3.
Sweetwater (18-9 overall) was the fourth place team in District 4-3A after losing to Monahans, 7-2, on Friday at Big Spring in a tiebreaker to determine seeding for the playoffs. Pecos (18-8 overall) was the champion out of District 3-3A.
Sweetwater and Pecos did not meet during the regular season, though the Eagles did play four other teams in 4-3A. The winner of their playoff faces Lubbock Cooper or Amarillo River Road in the area round, which will be the following weekend.
