SW teams win to keep their district hopes alive

Sweetwater’s 11-12 year-old all-stars have split the first 2 games of their District 5 tournament in Abilene & play Snyder at 6 p.m. today at Wylie’s field. All four Sweetwater teams are still chasing District 5 championships after the first three days of their respective double-elimination all-star tournaments.
Two teams stayed alive by winning losers bracket games Wednesday.
Sweetwater’s 9-10 year-olds were a 17-7 winner over Breckenridge, and advance to play Snyder at 7 p.m. to-day in Snyder.
Sweetwater’s 11-12 year-olds were a 2-1 winner over Breckenridge, and advance to play Snyder at 6 p.m. to-day at Wylie.
The 13-14 year-old (Jun-ior League) all-stars will play Snyder at 5:45 p.m. today at Wylie, while the Sweetwater 10-11 year-olds will resume play at 6 p.m. Friday when they face off against Wylie in a District 5 semifinal that will be played at Sweetwater, which is hosting the 10-11 tourney.
The Sweetwater-Wylie winner advances to the title game on Monday, while the loser gets a shot at the title if it can rebound by winning Saturday in the losers bracket final at 6 p.m. Today’s games pit Snyder vs. Southern at 6 p.m. and Clyde vs. Merkel at 8 p.m.
The Junior League all-stars will play Abilene North Gold or Abilene South Red on Saturday in a District 5 semifinal should they defeat Snyder. If they lose, they will play Wylie or Abilene South Blue at 7 p.m. Friday.
