Stafford, Smith selected for all-star game June 4

Connor Stafford of Sweet-water and Caden Smith of Roscoe have been chosen to participate in the 12th annual Fellowship of Chris-tian Athletes Myrle Great-house All-Star Classic foot-ball game slated for June 4.
The game will be played at Abilene’s Shotwell Sta-dium starting at 7 p.m.
Stafford and Smith will play for the North squad, which is coached by Quinn Conley of Baird. They are among 139 area student athletes — 115 players and 24 cheerleaders — selected for the North and South squads in the game. All proceeds will go to benefit the Big Country FCA chapter. The athletes, who represent approximately 50 area schools in Class 1A through 5A, were announced at a recent press conference. They will report for two-a-day workouts June 1.
Stafford was selected as a tight end and wide receiver while Smith was chosen as a quarterback, outside linebacker and kicker/punter.
The athletes will also be honored April 17 at a Victory Banquet to be held at the Abilene Civic Center.
