BANGS — The Sweetwa-ter High School boys bas-ketball team saw a furious fourth-quarter rally come up just short Friday as the Mustangs lost at Bangs, 47-44, despite outscoring their hosts 16-6 in the final eight minutes of play.
Sweetwater (4-7) trailed 18-7 after one quarter and 32-16 at halftime before starting a mild comeback by cutting Bangs’ lead to 13 (41-28) after three periods. The Mustangs equalled their first-half output in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t quite enough. Dylan Bennett led Sweetwater with 17 points while Isaiah McGee had 11. Rhett Torres had six, Jack Poe five, Cole Maxwell four and Quentin Wetsel one. Sweetwater hosts Colorado City when it returns to action Tuesday with tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
