BOYS -- Sweetwater faced an uphill battle from the start against No. 4 Wylie. Its playoff prospects also took a hit Tuesday.
Wylie’s 75-30 victory, coupled with Snyder’s 40-37 win at Brownwood, dropped Sweetwater a half-game behind Big Spring (2-4) and into a tie with Snyder (2-5) for fourth place in the District 5-4A standings. Sweetwater has already played its two district games with both teams. It hosts Brownwood next Tuesday — in a game that will have huge playoff implications — to end the regular season.
GIRLS -- After losing to Wylie by just five points in the first meet-ing, Sweetwater got a rematch Tuesday on its home court with the Lady Bulldogs to decide District 5-4A seeding for the playoffs which begin next week.
For awhile, the game lived up to expectations — at least for Sweetwater’s fans. Midway through the second quarter, it was all tied at 14 after Baylie Lindsey hit two free throws for the Lady Mustangs.
