SHS golf team 7th at Andrews

The Sweetwater High School golf team shot a 668 total this past weekend at the Andrews Boys Classic to place seventh out of 20 teams.
Sweetwater, which hosts its annual invitational tournament starting Friday at Sweetwater Country Club, was tied for ninth after an opening 335 but moved up two places after a 333 on the final day at Andrews.
Sweetwater’s Ryan Mercer shot 74-73 for a 147 total, finishing second out of 110 medalists and behind only Big Spring’s Blake Brorman (74-71-145). In addition, Sweetwater’s Dylan Torres shot 81-78-159 for a 14th-place finish. Mason Andrews (86-88-174), Jace Bentle (94-96-190) and Joey Adames (99-94-193) completed the team.
Sweetwater’s tournament has eight teams entered and a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start both days.
