Elise Lawrence and Amy Witt recorded top-10 medalist finishes in leading the Sweetwater High School girls golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Lamesa Invitational tournament that was held Monday.
Lawrence (83) tied for fifth place among medalists and Witt (85) was seventh for Sweetwater, which shot a one-day 369 total. Corynn Martin (100), Kala Wofford (101) and Alexis Castillo (111) also played for the Lady Mustangs.
Sweetwaterâ€™s No. 2 team also played at the Lamesa tournament and shot 426 to tie for 10th place. The No. 2 teamâ€™s players included Sierra Hernandez (100), Bailey Bernal (100), Alaina Andrews (108), Payton Moore (118) and Angellica Collier (119).
Monahans captured the team championship with a 335 total, with Midland Christian (348), Andrews â€˜Bâ€™ (367) third and Seminole (376) fifth.
Christian Cornutte of Midland Christian shot 74 to win medalist honors, beating Monahansâ€™ Gabi Cano by three strokes. Only four golfers broke 80.
