Robert “Bob” Karwedsky
Robert “Bob” Karwedsky, 83, went to be with the Lord, Monday, Feb. 28, 2011. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home. Pastor James Williams will be officiating . Robert Arthur was born May 22, 1927, in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin to parents Arthur and Mardula Karwedsky. Bob was a Veteran of the Navy and Air Force. Bob was a proud WWII veteran. He served in the Pacific Campaign aboard the USS Wisconsin and the USS Bennington. He enlisted in the Navy in January of 1945 and served until the end of the war. He was part of the liberation force that was instrumental in bringing about the release of Canadian POW’s in Northern Japan. Bob loved scale model trains. He loved attending Wallace Senior Citizen functions, bowling and woodworking. He also loved traveling, camping and storytelling of Navy stories during the war. Bob most of all loved being around family. Bob is survived by his wife, Geertje Karwedsky; daughters, Suzan Davis and husband Bill of Sand Springs, TX, Cyndy Finnell and husband Don of Cleburne, TX, Judy Yanke and husband Al of Albuquerque, NM, Karen Hines and husband Bob of Bridgeport, TX, Lynda Peiper and husband Chris of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, Ellen Kendrick and husband Roy of Brownfiled, TX, Laura Strickland and husband Ernie of Big Spring, TX; sons, Robert Karwedsky, Jr. and wife Linda of Brentwood, Tennesse, Ron Karwedsky of Irving, TX; 24 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren; sisters, Fay Sterckx and husband Darroil of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Mardula Secord and husband Reynold of North Port, Florida; aunt, Ellen Karwedsky; and constant companion dog Daffy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Karwedsky. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Davis, Don Finnell, Alvin Yanke, Bob Hines, Chris Peiper, Roy Kendrick and Ernie Strickland. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to Wallace Senior Citizen Center, 149 South Hwy 208, Colorado City, TX 79512.All services are under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
