RELIGION: Ministerial Alliance hosting Prayer Walk

This week's local church news

NOLAN COUNTY MINISTERIAL ALLIANCE
The Nolan County Ministerial Alliance is hosting a prayer walk of our schools on Tuesday, August 21 at 7 PM. We will meet on the west lawn of the First Financial Bank and then go to the respective schools to pray for our upcoming school year.  Please join us as we cover our administrators, teachers, students, and staff with prayer.

BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
When we pray we seem to want God to remove the pressure, remove the problem, and carry us around to an easier road. God told Paul in II Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” He did not say he would remove the pressure or problem, but He did promise strength and grace sufficient to overcome. He does promise victory and declares that we are more than conquerors through Christ. The pressure is often the fence between the narrow way of life and the broad way of destruction. I am sure, as you look back, you will realize that if God had removed the thorns you might have become a castaway, or your harp might have been hung on the willow.
No matter what you are going through, go through it with the grace of God. Know that His hand is guiding and His heart is loving. Let God be God in your weakness, and find His strength.
If you don’t have a church home, we would like to welcome you to come and visit us this Sunday. Our Life Groups, which is for all ages, starts at 10:00 AM. Our AM service is at 10:50, and our PM service begins at 6:00. Come and let us be a blessing to you as we worship the Lord together.

FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Sweetwater First United Methodist Church wants to invite you to join us on Sunday mornings to worship and praise our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The United Methodist Church is open to all persons and is a place where all are welcome and encouraged to “come as you are” with the expectation that by the grace of God you will leave different. The change that a relationship with Christ brings about is a life-changing encounter and we believe that while God accepts us as we are He loves us enough not to leave us in our sins. We believe that Scripture informs all aspects of our lives and should be our rule and authority.
The first service begins at 8:45 and is built around a traditional model with great hymns of the church. This service uses a more liturgical framework and often employs a wonderful choir.
Immediately following the first service we have Sunday School classes for all ages and stages of life. We invite you to try one of our many opportunities to come together and seek God in small groups that emphasize God’s Word and proclaim His glory.
At 10:50 we have a second worship service that has a decidedly contemporary flavor and incorporates more of progressive style and pace. This second service also has a children’s time and “Children’s Church” for kids in preschool through second grade.
Sweetwater FUMC also has youth activities on Sunday nights beginning at 6:30. Every Tuesday and Wednesday FUMC hosts the Gaylord’s Pantry and a clothes closet. Both of those ministries operate from 9:30-11:30 in the morning. Please enter through the North (4th street) entrance if you would like to receive God’s blessing through either of these ministries.

The Ministerial Alliance is also hosting a prayer walk of our schools on Tuesday, August 21 at 7 PM. Beginning on September 9th, our church family will study Rick Warren’s Better Together. Held each Sunday evening at 5:45 p.m., small groups will be available in individual homes with a study also being held here in the church sanctuary. Better Together is a dynamic small group study that will help us learn how to fulfill God's five purposes for our lives. It includes the biblical support behind each purpose, the ways it applies to us and our circle of influence, and how we can use this knowledge to benefit God's kingdom. From the beginning, God planned for Christians to fulfill His purposes in community with each other in our church families, small groups, and in the world as a whole. Why did God plan it this way? Because we're better together! Childcare is provided during the study. Call the church office at 235-2991 to enroll, or you can go to Sign-Up Central here at the church. For an excerpt from Rick Warren about this study, you can view the following video: HYPERLINK "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLBEuL3MWug" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLBEuL3MWug.
Also beginning in September (9/12) is our Ladies’ Bible Study, James: Mercy Triumphs, by Beth Moore. Ladies of all ages enjoy these studies which are held on Wednesdays at noon, with a second session available at 6:00 p.m. You may choose whichever time best fits your schedule. WORD OF GOD
Transforming ordinary people into passionate followers of Christ through God's Word, growing them into mature Christians, to be Jesus lights in this world and witnesses of the Gospel of Jesus and the Kingdom of God, seeking the lost for the glory of God and His kingdom.
We are a non-judgmental ministry- meaning that the ministry itself is not judgmental. We are not concerned where you have been or where you are at but where you are going.
