RCISD’s early start waiver approved by TEA

July 5, 2013

Roscoe Collegiate Independent School District was eligible to apply for an early start waiver for the 2013-2014 school year to assist in facilitating the Early College High School/STEM Academy. The waiver is applicable for two instructional years and allows the district to start classes two weeks prior to the fourth Monday in August. Fall 2013 classes are set to start August 12 and will conclude May 16, 2014.
Two distinct advantages this calendar provides the district include increased instructional days before the state administered standardized tests thus, fewer less productive days after assessment and close alignment of the instructional calendar with Western Texas College, the district’s academic dual-credit partner.
Currently, the district is enrolling students Pre-K three-year-olds thru 12th grade.
As a result of this waiver the district is asking all parents interested in enrolling their students in Roscoe Collegiate Elementary or Roscoe Collegiate High School for the 2013-2014 school year to contact the district before Aug. 1.
