One killed in I-20 wreck

Early Friday morning, a 2002 Dodge Ram going the wrong direction on Interstate 20 near the 233 mile marker struck a 2006 Toyota SXC, killing its occupant. The driver of the pick up truck was flown from the scene to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

• DPS Troopers investigating Nolan County fatal crash

One person was killed and one was injured in a two vehicle crash nine miles west of Sweetwater, in Nolan County. The crash occurred at 2:41 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 23, in the westbound lane of Interstate 20, 0.4 miles east of mile marker 233. This crash is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Gustavo Cervantes (injured), 36, from Wichita Falls, Texas was driving a 2002 Dodge Ram eastbound in the westbound passing lane of IH-20. Cervantes is in incapacitating condition with internal injuries at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Cervantes was wearing a seat belt.
Cory Lynn Carlile (deceased), 41, from Rowlett, Texas was driving a 2006 Toyota SXC westbound at the same location. The vehicles struck head on. Carlile was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Sharon Gardner at 3:24 a.m. The body was taken to McCoy Funeral Home in Roscoe. The next of kin have been notified. Carlile was wearing a seat belt.
The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Robert Scott Reagan is investigating this crash.
