The scene of a Wednesday morning wreck near the 236 mile marker on Interstate 20

According to Sweetwater Emergency Services Manager Grant Madden, a mother and her young son were east bound near the 236 mile marker on Interstate 20 on Wednesday morning when she had to swerve to miss a car that had slowed down.
The driver swerved into the center median and went through the cable barrier, ending up going the wrong way in the west bound lane. She missed a pickup that was in the lane by swerving back to the center median and back into the cable barrier.
Madden stated that she came to a rest with one cable one the driver's side and two cables on the passenger's side, effectively keeping the doors from opening. A bystander helped the mother and son out the back hatch. Both were wearing their seat belts and were uninjured.
According to Madden, the Sweetwater Fire Department EMS service has seen an increase in runs lately with wrecks, due to an increase in traffic.
