SHS alum Giles Montgomery to become assistant football coach

Giles Montgomery, a former all-state lineman at Sweetwater High School and a 2004 graduate of SHS, is returning to the sidelines this year as an assistant football coach.
Montgomery, who also played collegiately at Texas Christian University after his star-studded high school career here in the early 2000s, will coach the offensive line. He replaces Bobby Williams, who left to join Craig Slaughter’s coaching staff at Llano.
As a high school player, Montgomery was not only a first team all-state defensive lineman but also received all-state honorable mention as a wide receiver and as a tight end and was chosen to play in the Texas High School Coaches Association all-star game following his senior year.
