Lee Roy “L.R.” Sells

Graveside services for Lee Roy “L.R.” Sells, 79, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at Sweetwater Cemetery. Rev. Jeremy Thompson, Ken Kerby, and Rev. Mike Sells will officiate with interment to follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 30, from 6-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.
Sells died Wednesday, Nov. 28, in Abilene.
He was born Jan. 29, 1933, in Trinidad, Texas. He married Wyvonne Pugh on May 3, 1956, in Sweetwater. L.R. moved to Sweetwater from Rotan in 1952. He had been a carpenter for Alston Construction Company in Sweetwater until he became owner/operator of L.R. Sells and Sons Scrap Iron and Metal Company is 1970. He was Pentecostal by faith. L.R. enjoyed fishing and building and working on race cars in his younger years.
Survivors include his wife, Wyvonne Sells of Sweetwater; son, Mike Sells and wife Debra of Sweetwater; daughter, Pam Nichols of Midland; brother, Dean Sells and wife Becky of Sweetwater; sisters, Rosie Brannan and husband Floyd of Sweetwater and Billie Burrow of Abilene; grandchildren, Drew Sells, Haley Nichols and Kourtney Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Cleo Hickson Sells; daughter, Rhonda Sells; grandson, Blake Nichols; brother, Pug Sells; and sisters, Juanita French, Corine Faught and Polly Walton.
Pallbearers will be current and former employees.
