The Sweetwater girls basketball team starts the postseason at 6 p.m. today when it plays Burkburnett in a bi-district playoff at Guthrie High School.
Sweetwater (9-21) was the No. 4 seed in District 5-4A while Burkburnett (16-11) qualified as the No. 1 seed from 6-4A after tying Graham for first place and winning a coin flip to determine seeding. The teams did not play in the regular season.
Despite Burkburnett’s better record and superior height, Sweetwater head coach Devin Griffin isn’t overly concerned. “They haven’t done anything we haven’t seen,” she said. “We’ve been smaller than every-one we’ve played. I’m extremely proud of our team. We’re in playoff time so we’ve got to fight tooth and nail for everything, and we’re starting to put things together. We’ve got to stay out of foul trouble and if we can rebound and make our free throws we will be okay.”
