Lady ‘Stangs get first district win

SNYDER — Sweetwater got its first District 4-3A volleyball win by beating Snyder in four games Tues-day. The Lady Mustangs won by scores of 29-27, 25-15, 22-25, 25-17 as they improved to 1-1 in district and 21-11 overall while Sny-der fell to 0-2, 21-10.
Sweetwater had several top individual performan-ces. Kendra Crosson led the team with 17 kills and also finished with 20 digs to share team honors with her sister Kelsi Crosson. The latter also had 13 kills while Kathleen Campbell and Shelby Cason had 11 and 10 kills, respectively, for the Lady Mustangs.
Suede Shirley, the team’s primary setter, had 36 kill assists, 15 digs, three kills and one service ace.
Janell Walker finished with seven digs while Mikki Reschman had six and Ang-ela Garza five.
Taylor McPherson had three digs, two kills and one assist; Campbell and Cason had three digs and Cason also had two blocks; Larissa Locklar had one kill and one dig; and Kayla Chowning had two digs. Kelsi Crosson also had two blocks as well as two service aces. Sweet-water hosts Big Spring (1-1) in its next match Saturday.
