Kids fishing tournament planned for Saturday

July 13, 2013

The Sweetwater Kiwanis Club and Sweetwater Lake & Marina are coming together to host a Kids Fishing Tournament on Saturday, July 20 at the Lake Sweetwater Boat Ramp.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with lunch and prizes to follow.
There will be a $5 entry fee per participant, which will cover the costs for lunch, gifts and prizes. Prizes will be awarded for the Biggest Fish, Smallest Fish and Outstanding Angler to the following age groups: 3 to 5 year olds, 6 to 8 year olds, 9 to 12 year olds and 13 to 16 year olds.
Bait and tackle will be available for sale at the store, and participants are encouraged to bring chairs. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to meet the Nolan County Game Warden.
A fishing license will not be required for entrants ages 16 and under, and parents who assist the young anglers will not need one as well. However, parents who will be fishing on their own will need a fishing license.
In addition, no alcohol will be permitted at the event.
Participants can pre-register at the Sweetwater Lake & Marina or register on the morning of the tournament. For more information, call 325-235-1223.
