Josefa (Josie) Valenzuela, age 92, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raul Ortiz of Fort Worth officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Josefa was born on May 10, 1920 in Sweetwater, Texas to Manuel and Beatrice (Dominguez) Martinez. She was a homemaker. She married Carmen Valenzuela in 1934. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She is survived by four sons, Robert Valenzuela and wife Seferina, Benny Valenzuela and wife Mary, Salvador Valenzuela and wife Isabel and David Valenzuela and wife Elizabeth; four daughters, Elida Gutierrez and husband Frank, Anita Ortega and husband Francisco, Beatrice Cave and husband Johnny and Minnie Cortez and husband Buddy, all of Sweetwater, Texas; 37 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Refugio Reyes and Heriberto Paz, both of Del Rio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice Martinez; father, Manuel Martinez; husband, Carmen Valenzuela; one daughter, Irene Rodriguez; three sons, Ramon, Mike and Rey Valenzuela; and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Betancourt, Andrew Montoya, Mark Betancourt, Leonor Ortega, Jacob Valenzuela, Rey David Valenzuela and Emilio Valenzuela.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ruby Montoya and Bethany McNamara.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012.
